Singer/songwriter/guitarist/record producer, Allan is best known as the writer of “On The Inside” (the theme from the TV series “Prisoner”), which reached number 1 in Australia and New Zealand, number 3 in England and made the country charts in the USA. He is the winner of 5 Golden Guitars at Tamworth and has been a finalist 27 times. He has also earned 2 gold singles, 1 platinum and 4 gold albums for his writing and production work. Allan has had over 500 songs recorded worldwide with hits in the USA, the UK, Australia and New Zealand by artists of the calibre of Cilla Black, Patti Page, The Irish Rovers, Slim Dusty, James Blundell, The Living End and Lynne Hamilton. He recently had a top 20 hit on the European Country Charts. He has also spent much of the last 20 years co-writing and co-producing hugely successful children’s albums with Don Spencer. “Having seen his work for Souths, I can promise you he will write you a song to stir your heart, soul and, if need be loins” (Andrew Denton) “I’m proud to say that he is, in my opinion, one of the most gifted singer/songwriters this country has ever produced” (Alan Jones) Allan has worked live with Garth Brooks, Don Maclean, Gerry and the Pacemakers and The Little River Band. He has played at The Sydney Entertainment Centre and The Melbourne Concert Hall and overseas in places like New York, LA, Nashville and New Zealand but claims the highlight of his career was playing to 80,000 people at a “Save Souths” rally with a song he had written the previous night. At the beginning of 2006, Allan released his 10th album “Al’s Bar and Grill” and his first book “Writing Great song Lyrics”. Both have been greeted by terrific reviews with most critics agreeing that “Al’s Bar and Grill” is Allan’s best album yet.
