Amber Lawrence is an exciting talent on the rise in the country music industry who is often described as the city girl with a country heart. Amber, who hails from Sydney, has made a big impact in a short time! Her recent achievements include a Grand Final berth at the 2005 Toyota Starmaker quest held during the Tamworth country music festival. This is the festival’s most prestigious talent quest, and Amber’s performance in the grand final did her proud. Amber quickly followed this up with the release of her first single “I’ve Got the Blues”, which not only received enormous support from radio, but a Top 20 spot in the Country Music Channel Charts and earned Amber a nomination in the Tamworth Independent Artists Awards (TIARA's) for songwriting. These awards will be given during the 2006 Country Music Festival. Amber burst onto the country music scene in 2003 with a win at the Newcastle heat of the Telstra Road to Tamworth – another talent quest associated with the Telstra Country Music Festival. The final was held at the 2004 Tamworth Country Music Festival, with Amber thrilled to be one of the five entrants to make it through to the Grand Final, singing her heart out to narrowly miss winning the grand prize. Award-winning producer Rod McCormack saw Amber perform in the Telstra Road to Tamworth and described her as having enormous potential and being a 'star in the making'. Amber also graduated from the prestigious CMAA Australian College of Country Music in 2004 where she took in some lessons from industry greats Beccy Cole, Roger Corbett, Lyn Bowtell, Tamara Stewart, John Williamson, Kasey Chambers, Troy Cassar-Daley, Sara Storer and Melinda Schneider to name a few. Amber is a dynamic performer who is known for her ability to engage audiences with enthusiasm, honesty and humour. Her stage presence is one of her strongest assets. Audiences were wowed with recent performances by Amber and her band at the 2005 Tamworth country music festival. With extensive experience as a performer, Amber has toured with country industry greats Brendon Walmsley, Jim Haynes and Michael Carr as part of the Australian Country Muster on Tour. She has also toured with 2004 ‘Starmaker’ Travis Collins and also with Travis Sinclair. Amber was also a long serving member of Sydney showband The Family Von Trapp, leaving the band to concentrate on her burgeoning country music career. She recently performed the national anthem for the Prime Minister, John Howard, which she counts as one of her career highlights to date. Her musical career has taken the young singer traveling throughout NSW, Queensland, New Zealand, New Caledonia and as far a field as the USA. Amber is extremely driven and eager to succeed in the country music industry, and can be seen playing gigs around Sydney, NSW and beyond.
